Our History

LAFABA-CLT NC is committed toLa Famille Bamileke of Charlotte, NC (LAFABA Charlotte NC)

Founded in 2009, LaFaba Charlotte was born from the vision and determination of a few pioneer members who sought to bring together Bamileke families living in the Charlotte area. Their goal was simple yet powerful — to preserve their shared cultural heritage, strengthen family bonds, and support one another as they adapted to life in the United States.

From those humble beginnings in living-room meetings and small gatherings, the association has steadily grown into a vibrant and structured 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization representing the Bamileke community in North Carolina.

Over the years, LAFABA Charlotte NC has:

    •    Fostered unity and friendship among Bamileke families.

    •    Supported members during key life events through solidarity and compassion.

    •    Promoted cultural education and youth mentorship.

    •    Organized community events that showcase Bamileke values, traditions, and arts.

    •    Built partnerships with other cultural and nonprofit organizations across North America.

Today, LaFaba Charlotte stands as a pillar of cultural pride, mutual aid, and community leadership, guided by the spirit of its founders and the energy of its new generations.
